The Daily Express today wrote an article about Keelan Leyser was ‘nearly’ rumbled by, Prince Charles, sorry now King Charles.
An article in the Daily Express today featured the story of how King Charles, who is widely regarded as the “most magical Royal” for his performances around the world, almost uncovered the act of renowned magician Keelan Leyser
Although Leyser had previously performed for various high-profile figures and celebrities, he had a particularly memorable encounter with the future King who was at that time a Prince, King Charles, who had been a member of the Magic Circle since 1975. The two met at the Dog and Bull pub in Croydon during a celebration of the old Surrey Street Market in 1994.
Prior to their meeting, Leyser had already made appearances on popular shows such as Surprise Surprise, This Morning, and Blue Peter. He was invited to create a magic trick that incorporated a thank-you letter for the Prince. The young magician, who was only 15 at the time, planned a second surprise for the royal in addition to the requested letter of gratitude.
During the meeting, Leyser produced a glass of champagne out of nowhere, stunning the King, who had not been expecting the additional trick. Despite his experience with magic, King Charles appeared amazed by the trick and even remarked that Leyser would make a great magician himself.
The article concludes by highlighting that while King Charles may have almost uncovered Leyser’s act, the magician’s skills continue to impress audiences to this day, making him one of the most well-known and respected magicians in the world.
